Who are the Sufi ?  Why are they so important today ?"

The mysterious, illusive Sufi predated our common era. Mostly from the ancient Sumerian and Mesopotamian culture, their influence has arguably woven itself into Greek philosophy and old English literature with the writings of 'Saki' Turkey and Samarkund areas were a deeply-rooted seat for the Sufi. Beloved by all around them, the Sufi remains sometime in hiding, sometimes under a guise, and sometimes an open presence. Is it possible for those unfamiliar with the Sufi to recognize a Sufi when they chance to meet one? What are the recognizable signs? What is the appropriate way to greet and behave around a Sufi?
Their importance today is growing in America. The discussion will briefly examine the reasons why this is occurring.

"The Sharing Economy"
By Narveen Aryaputri.
The presence of Cyberspace and the consequent mindset of the 21st Century has created an economy that is unprecedented.
Knowing what the economic landscape looks like as we understand the bigger picture is vital in learning how to negotiate the new world we live in.
Changes in the banking system, Crowd funding, the presence of UBER, are some major currents we can see. Uncontrollable plagiarism, unprecedented fraud, and creation of true new art forms redefine the term 'caveat emptor'.
Named the new 'wild west' frontier, are the dangers negotiable with greater ease since the outset of cyberspace?
Narveen will be exploring the new Sharing Economy in her essay on this topic. Copies will be available on hand.

Narveen is a professor in English Literature. She is a professional artist, and an essayist. She has restored two major historical buildings in our area: the Spencer House, circa 1865, and The Moline Commercial Club, circa 1912.

The Original 13th. Amendment: "Titles of Nobility"

Ratified in 1819 by Virginia,  the final State required at that time and not been Repealed since then.

The 'lost' Original 13th. Amendment discovered recently by two researchers: David Dodge and Tom Dunn, former Baltimore police investigator, is now being circulated at this time of our history. It had been buried a few years after the Civil War at which time the 14th Amendment : The Abolution of Slavery replaced the original 13th Amendment to become the 'new' 13th. Amendment.

Copies of the research by David Dodge will be available on premises.
