"Poor Economics"
new highly relevant guide in a world where problems of inequality are becoming overriding, the book has the potential for the greatest impact as described by the judges who choose this book as the 2011 Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year.
Written by co-authors Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo, two MIT professors who are part of a group known as Randomistas
this book has stirred up controversy. Its evidence-based approach is being seen as a method to bridge the gap between the two sides of development over the value of aid. Opening questions on how to measure the impacts of interventions, the book provides a real basis for innovation in policy and innovation in government
Copies of news coverage and reviews will be available in addition to a few copies of the book.

“ The Beautiful Story”
An original article written and presented
by
Roger Farinha
A presentation on the history of Creation, starting with the Trinitarian dynamic of God, up to the point of God’s Incarnation in Christ.
Roger Farinha was born in British Guyana in 1971 and immigrated with his family to the US at the age of 9 years. He became a naturalized citizen in New York at the age of 16, and went on to earn a Bachelors in the History of Modern philosophy, and a masters of Liberal Studies through Fordham University. Most recently, Farinha spent six years as a big-rig trucker, talking to his fellow Americans as a part of his book writing project, the manuscript of which is entitled The New Walden; and the conclusion of which heralded an economic justice message which flowered into his most recent organizing activities in the Quad Cities in the Occupy Wall Street spirit.

List of Derogatory Words in 2011 First session in compiling the list .
The Independent Scholars are collecting derogatory words to be compiled in a list held in the library at The Institute as well as circulated on the internet. These are the words being used, at this time, in our social history, and words which are to be generally avoided, since they can be taken as humiliating, hostile and derogatory or ‘fighting’ words to the listener.
These words are also very revealing, reflecting the underlying prejudices and bias that weave in all societies and cultures.
Please bring in your personal lists of words you consider derogatory.
You can also access this list on our QC Institute Independent Scholars on LinkedIn.
We will continue to expand it as our Independent Scholars bring in their contributions.
